I was at Austerville Primary School and we had our first book launch in 1998.

In 2000 my very own book of poems, The Rollercoaster was launched together with the learners’ books of Austerville Primary.
Thereafter, I went to M L Sultan School in Colenso and finally to Newlands East Secondary in Durban.
As mentor to many learners, creative writing has been therapeutic not only for myself but also for many disadvantaged learners. It has provided a platform to share their thoughts in a safe and secure environment.
Creative writing makes learners feel special and promotes realizing the true potential of learners.
“Light
Children are the light of our lives.
Children give us joy
Children make us laugh and cry
Children love us
Children are full of mystery.
And it is these very children
Who gives us hope!Light”Many learners are inspired by creative writing and this is very evident in emerging rap artists that are an important part of their lives.
